MORE and more people are suffering from depression globally, including in South Africa. By 2020, depression is expected to be the world’s second-leading cause of disability. Within that tragedy is another: Czech scientists from the University of Ostrava’s department of clinical pharmacology say this problem continues to escalate despite "more than half a century of modern psychopharmacology, with billions of dollars spent on antidepressants annually worldwide".
